He fanaticism for the iconic 1986 Japanese series, ‘Dragon Ball’has crossed every possible border, generating great impact worldwide. And this phenomenon was one in a million thanks to its timelessness: there is no age or time in which it is not seen, conquering generation after generation.
In Peru, thousands of followers have adopted the series and its characters as part of their identity, turning them into icons of the popular culture actual. Dante Rubioone of the most passionate fans, took his love for the series to the next level with a tribute film to ‘Dragon Ball’.

The first official trailer of the feature film fanmade of Dragon Ballwas released on November 29, but it was not until December 17 that it was disseminated on a large scale, causing a stir among followers of the saga.
Produced by Cygnus Productions and directed by Dante Rubio, the film promises to be a faithful tribute to the universe of the series created by the late mangaka Akira Toriyama. Although the project was launched in 2019, it could not be completed due to delays and obstacles and filming was resumed in the natural settings of Chota, Cajamarca.
At the beginning of the teaser, fans can see a Goku, played by Dante Rubio himself, training under a spectacular sunset, while listening to the narration of Joaquin Martal. The scene presents a faithful adaptation of the initial events of the manga, but with a more mature protagonist, who sports a toned torso like the original character.
The protagonist is then shown applying his training and skills in a confrontation with two more characters, highlighting the emblematic ‘Come here we have’ as a key element of the saga that could not be missing from the film. Meanwhile, the edition and visual effects They showed the dedication that the team has invested in this ambitious production.
The film is directed, written and stars Rubio, with performances by the artists Miguel Cusma and Álex Smith.
As is known, the solid ‘fandom‘ from ‘Dragon Ball’ constitutes a giant army in all the countries in which the series was broadcast. In Peru, this is no exception, so it was to be expected that the first trailer of the film would generate all kinds of reactionsharsh comments and even mockery towards the creator.
Comments like “We were very hard with ‘Dragon Ball Evolution’” and “Forgive me for everything ‘Dragon Ball Evolution’”, referring to the 2009 film considered one of the worst adaptations made to film, showed that the trailer for the Peruvian production would have caused them supreme displeasure.
