Star Trek: Section 31 is the next Star Trek film, which will be released for streaming on Paramount+ on January 24. It is a spin-off of the Star Trek: Discovery series that stars Michelle Yeoh as Philippa Georgiou, a former empress from the mirror universe who joins the mysterious Section 31.
Section 31 is a secret, autonomous branch of Starfleet, operating outside of normal procedures to protect the Federation. Its methods are often controversial and considered incompatible with the principles of the Federation.
The film will adopt the codes of a spy film in space where the plot will focus on Georgiou facing a “threat like Starfleet has never seen“. The cast also includes Omari Hardwick and Kacey Rohl. The first trailer was revealed this weekend.
The film has absolutely nothing to do with the timeline where Chris Pine plays James Tiberius Kirk and whose last opus Star Trek Beyond was released in 2016, while waiting for the next one for 2026?
