“What if Detroit wasn’t in ruins.” What if everything the media repeats about him is just lies. This documentary offers a road trip to one of the most enigmatic cities in the United States. A journey of shared perspectives, like a declaration of love for their city. Through the words of its inhabitants, a half-empty city emerges, populated by activists, concerned citizens, declasse people who seem to be hiding from the rest of the world. In this journey, music resonates everywhere, from half-empty streets, to large abandoned buildings, through urban farms and invading industrial wastelands. This music is that of the soul of Detroit, which does not seem so hostile, but full of hope, life and passion. » Led by Jarring Effects, the Lyon label behind the cultural exchange program and Cape Town Effects, the documentary highlights D.Lights, the Detroit hip-hop group born from an international artistic and human encounter within which we find two producers: Charles Trees and YoggyOn, and three rappers from the Detroit hip hop scene: Finale, Miz Korona and Intricate Dialect.
