The Montbel festival committee is organizing a screening evening this Saturday, November 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the Maison du Lac. The documentary film is called “Brice, a cowherd attacking the Pyrenees” and has the subtitle “or the metaphysics of the shepherd trailer”!
The director of the film, Sandrine Mörch, will be present as well as David Eychenne, a breeder who entrusts his cows to Brice, as for Brice himself… his presence remains a surprise because he loves solitude! The film lasts 53 minutes and will be followed by a debate then a Spanish inn (everyone brings their specialties to share). The festival committee will provide the refreshment bar.
Five to seven months a year, Brice Delsoullier, a high-level athlete and shepherd, goes up alone to a summer pasture in the Ariège mountains. A paradise of 5,000 hectares, located between 1500 and 3000 meters above sea level where he walks eight to ten hours a day to offer his cows the tastiest grass. He also runs there, a lot, for a long time, on steep slopes, steep ridges, rocky and inhospitable lands. His own way of preparing for his skyrunning competitions, alone, as soon as he can shelter his herd from bad weather and bears, blessed moments when he puts on his old sneakers and heads towards the summits, hurtling down the trails. steeper.
A passion sharpened by a surprising competitive spirit in this voluntary recluse, who does not hesitate to abandon his herd for a few hours for a race, to rub shoulders with the best skyrunning athletes and find a place for himself.
