Ryan Reynolds is going to adapt this superhero for the screen, and no one expected it

Since 2009 and X-Men Origins: WolverineRyan Reynolds lends his features to Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool. Certainly, the two Deadpools are different on paper. Despite everything, he remains the same character, namely an almost immortal killing machine. But Deadpool isn't the only superhero Reynolds turns to, as this article from Variety.

Ryan Reynolds takes on a new superhero

In a new report published this November 25, 2024, Variety reveals that Ryan Reynolds and his production company Maximum Effort are teaming up with Paramount Animation for an animated film based on Mighty Mouse. Another superhero for the interpreter of Deadpool, this time with a much less popular and well-known character than the now cult Wade Wilson.

Created by artists Paul Terry and Izzy Klein for Terrytoons Studio, Mighty Mouse debuted in the animated short film The Mouse of Tomorrow in 1942. A character then appeared several times in short films over the decades, even becoming the headliner of an animated series broadcast on Saturday mornings. A choice hour which has made it popular with children. Obviously, several reboot attempts have been made over the years, without success.

With this umpteenth attempt, Paramount Animation and Ryan Reynolds hope to succeed where others have failed. For this project, Reynolds surrounds himself with Matt Lieberman, screenwriter of Free Guywho will work on the script for this film. A new project for Maximum Effort and Paramount, whose association has been running for years. Reynolds is no stranger to connections between actors and big fish in the industry.

Red Notice

For several years, he has also been one of the headliners of Netflix, for whom he was seen in Six Underground, Red Notice or even Adam through timebefore multiplying the films for AppleTV+ with Spirited: The Spirit of Christmas et Ghosted. It remains to be seen whether this new production based on Mighty Mouse will cross the Atlantic to try to attract French audiences.
