We finally have some information for the release ofAlien: Earththe new series from Noah Hawley in the horrific universe of Ridley Scott.
We are not far from saying that the license Alien has never been as prolific as it is now. And for once, what is quite fascinating in the mutation of the space horror saga is the strange rupture that it is experiencing between several divergent visions. If, often, horror franchises that last too long transform from one film to another, but within the same continuity, it's a little different, here, with Alien.
The recent and nice Alien: Romulus will receive a sequel, and seems eager to return to the roots of what the saga was initially. A cosmic slasher in which the xenomorph is only a killer beast linked to an abstract Lovecraftian imagination. Meanwhile, Ridley Scott would like to continue the rewriting of his mythology, with a successor to Prometheus et Covenant in a tale as biblical as it is cynical. Two very different visions of the same universe and which coexist despite everything… while one third will appear. That of Noah Hawley (Legion, Fargo) who emerged with his series Alien: Earthof which we finally have a poster and an exit window.
Alien in sight!
While in space, no one will hear you scream, on Earth however… it may be animated. The subject ofAlien : Earth will therefore be to imagine (for the first time) the invasion of xenomorphs on our dear blue planet (yes, we don't count the Alien vs. Predator). She was only spared for too long, after all. Here is the official synopsis:
« When a mysterious spaceship crashes on Earth, a young woman (Sydney Chandler) and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that brings them face to face with the greatest threat on the planet.«
We also know thatAlien: Earth will take place around thirty years before the events of the first Alien. According to Deadlinethe series should also address the question of robotic life on Earth and the way in which large human megacorporations wish to develop it. And who says Alien necessarily says big criticism of the excesses of capitalism. See the subtlety of the point.
Dates of the invasion
On September 3, the FX channel posted a first teaser for the series, which only showed the visual of a xenomorph on which we can see the Earth reflected. Since then, we have had some new images ofAlien : Earth revealing in particular actress Sydney Chandler in his character. And even if we have seen very little yet, this very little thing is devilishly desirable.
Especially when we know that the project's showrunner, Noah Hawley, is a specialist in revisiting the mythology of other universes and producing something lasting very creative and stimulating. Legion is still, to this day, one of the best offerings from the X-Men and Fargo franchise, a true serial monument surpassing the legacy of the Coen brothers' film. We will therefore be at the meeting ofAlien : Earththis summer 2025as its brand new teaser announces (in any case, the US teaser since the French one does not indicate any specific period).
Alien: Earth will debut next year on FX's Hulu platform. In France, the series will therefore be broadcast on Disney+. In addition to Sydney Chandler, we should find Timothy Olyphant (Justified), by Samuel Blenkin (The French Dispatch), Sandra Yi Senchindiver (Fondation), Alex Lawther (Departure) or Adarsh Gourav (The White Tiger) to the casting. No star on the horizon, therefore, apart perhaps from Olyphant (who has already toured with Noah Hawley in Fargo). And it's not any worse.
