WARNING, This news contains rumors!
A rumor is information about the history of a film, book, etc. which has not been officially confirmed. Like spoilers, if the reader found out before discovering the film/book, the rumors would spoil the pleasure of the surprise if they turned out to be true. We consider any information about future Star Wars films that has not been officially confirmed to be a rumor here. Hello everyone,
The rumors are circulating almost as much as the announced film projects! It can sometimes be difficult to sort through this situation and even understand Lucasfilm’s strategy for the future of the saga on the big screen.
Never mind! The Hollywood Reporter (reliable) has tackled the situation and gives us a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the studio’s development process. Note that although the source is very reliable here, these are only rumors.
Thus, according to this media, here are the film projects developed in parallel:
The quantity is quite impressive! The general public very probably has difficulty finding their way around, as do certain people internally who would have explained to THR that this is not the usual development process of the firm. Others even go so far as to claim that Star Wars is a nostalgia business…having exhausted its nostalgia tools! Indeed, the stories of the “legacy characters”, namely Luke, Han, Leia, Yoda, Obi-Wan, Anakin, etc., have all already been told, whether in film or series.
What remains to be offered to the general public in cinemas in this case? The answer is apparently obvious at Lucasfilm: Rey Skywalker. The character played by Daisy Ridley is considered internally to be the main asset of the brand. It is therefore very likely that she will appear in several film projects. The actress also seems very enthusiastic about the idea of reprising her role!
In fact, the projectNew Jedi Order” is around her as would also be the Kinberg trilogy (which is actually quite strange!). She should also appear but probably older in what Shawn Levy is preparing (rumor from Jeff Sneider, quite reliable). In short: Lucasfilm would count on her a lot.
Finally, there is no doubt about the return of the saga to the big screen as there are so many projects in development. It is also very likely that the whole thing will be impacted by the one that comes out first, narratively influencing the others. The building is therefore in constant evolution and does not yet seem very clear even internally if we are to believe the article by THR. Some sources would also affirm that narrative freedom is restricted in cinema, much less so in TV series.
