The creator of the saga Alien wanted to ensure that the future series Alien : Earth will respect the first film well.
Alien : Romulus put the xenomorph saga back on the path to success, or at least to public seduction. And who says success, says exploitation. Besides the fact that theAlien by Fede Alvarez seems well on its way to having a sequel, a series derived from the franchise Alien has been announced, and is becoming clearer little by little, as the weeks go by.
First called Alien : Neverlanda title imbued with a large dose of black humor, the spin-off series dedicated to the xenomorph will be titled Alien : Earth. And while we don't know much about this future series, except that it will take place on Earth (hence the title, thank you Captain Evidence), it would seem that the very existence of this iteration already raises many questions.
Among these questions are those of respect for the original materialwhether it be the first films, or the relaunch of the franchise by Ridley Scott with Prometheus et Covenant. Le showrunner Noah Hawley (Fargoand the wonder Legion) has already explained that the series will show different Aliens than those in the films, and he stated that Alien : Earth will be very different from Prometheusbecause he doesn't like this movie. Ridley Scott also spoke about Alien : Earth in order to provide support and ensure the series' respect for the first film.
When the planets become Alien
In a river interview published by The Hollywood Reporter on November 7, 2024, Ridley Scott returned to the series adaptation projects of certain major licenses that he created: Blade runner 2099 by Silka Luisa for Amazon Prime Video, and Alien : Earth by Noah Hawley for Hulu. Regarding the series Alien, the director maintained that it will respect the original 1979 film.
“Obviously, I've been setting the tone for a while. I know exactly what I did and how influential it was, because I keep seeing it — “Oh, it's me… it's from me…” — At first it was annoying, but now it's fun and healthy. It should be noted that Ridley Scott does not speak of respect for films Alien which he did not realize, nor Prometheus or from Covenant.
