In the space of forty years immersed in the world of cinema, Tom Cruise has had the opportunity to appear in major films and cult sagas. Some productions have had greater or lesser success, but it seems that nothing can rise to the level of this film. According to the Rotten Tomatoes site, critics have never praised one of his films as much as this one: it obtained an almost perfect score of 98%!
Tom Cruise, a career that would make one green with envy
On the Hollywood side, it’s not always easy to create a real consensus around a film. Among the actors with long careers, Tom Cruise is part of this very closed circle. In view of his filmography and his collaborations with great directors (Francis Ford Coppola, Oliver Stone, Ridley Scott, Martin Scorsese, Stanley Kubrick, Steven Spielberg, …), the American actor put all the chances on his side. Yet its greatest achievement, based on recommendation scores given on Rotten Tomatoesdates back only a few years!
For more than 40 years, Tom Cruise has lent his features to a whole host of characters, sometimes even within franchises that have become cult, like the saga Mission : Impossible. Inaugurated by director Brian de Palma, the adventures of Ethan Hunt have been going on since 1996 and now number seven parts. One would have thought that the saga would follow the pattern of its counterparts and run out of steam over time. However, this is not the case or, at least, not entirely! And Mission Impossible : Dead Reckoning achieved its financial objectives and disconcerted critics, the opus which precedes it, Mission Impossible : Falloutwon all the votes when it was released!
Don’t look, it’s this film from the Mission Impossible saga that is Tom Cruise’s greatest success
Casually, the film franchise Mission : Impossible tended to blow hot and cold. However, at the top of the basket, we find certain episodes (Mission : Impossible, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, Mission Impossible : Fallout). If the latter has been cited several times, it is because he achieved the feat of achieving unanimous agreement on Rotten Tomatoes. We are still talking about a spectacular 98% recommendation rating.. It is also so breathtaking that one of the critics admits to having had “ need to catch my breath » at times. As for the spectators, we are also very excited, even if the score does not reach such heights (10 points less, 88%). Today, with the results at half mast, the saga plays big with the eighth episode.
What future for the franchise Mission : Impossible ? For the moment, everything remains to be proven and, proof, Paramount is about to provide us with some. Monday, November 11, the production company has already planned to share with us the first images of the sequel to Mission Impossible : Dead Reckoning (simply named Mission Impossible 8for now). Despite this return, Hollywood Reporter explained to us that there were some points of friction between the company and Tom Cruise, notably due to two contradictory visions. In fact, Paramount would like to market this part as the conclusion of the saga – just to boost the number of spectators and box office results -, while Tom Cruise does not yet seem ready to say goodbye to Ethan Hunt.
