Blue Beetle: An animated series in development for the DCU!

Developing a series based on the biggest failure of the DCEU when the DCU has not yet proven itself? What a wonderful idea (no)! You read that right, Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios are developing an animated series Blue Beetlewith Miguel Puga (Welcome to the Casagrandes) as showrunner, Cristian Martinez (Good Trouble) on the screenplay and Angel Manuel Soto – the director of the blockbuster Coleoptera – on production. As for casting, the idea is of course to re-hire the actors from the film, to potentially reintroduce them later in live action. Frankly, it might be the best show in the world, but at some point… where did the sense of priorities go?

Jaime Reyes is a young man full of ambition. As he returns from college, the Scarab, an ancient relic of extraterrestrial biotechnology, chooses to make him its host. The latter then sees himself dressed in extraordinary armor which grants him extraordinary – and unpredictable – powers. Everything then changes for Jaime who becomes the superhero Blue Beetle…

Blue Beetle ofAngel Manuel Soto was released in France on August 16, 2023, with Xolo Maridueña (Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle), Bruna Marquezine (Penny), Belissa Escobedo (Milagros Reyes), Harvey Guillén, George Lopez (Uncle Rudy), Adriana Barraza (Nana), Elpidia Carrillo (Rocio), Damian Alcázar (Alberto) and Susan Sarandon (Victoria Kord).
