In November, it starts to get seriously cold and between us, the fact that it gets dark so early is a bit depressing. Back to the Future, Who Framed Roget Rabbit, Forrest Gump, Alone in the World, Flight or even Pinocchio: there are guys like that who weigh a lot and Robert Zemeckis is certainly one of them. So, when the filmmaker releases a new film, we rush to the cinemas and Here promises a touching and terribly human experience : we will follow the story of a family through time and the centuries, through their joys and their misfortunes for a great moment of emotion as only the director allows. And hey, with such a cast, we can only be reassured. Strongly.

The Substance
A film which caused a lot of talk at the Cannes Film Festival for having disturbed more than one and obviously, that makes us extremely curious. In The Substance, a model who refuses to age (Demi Moore) agrees to undergo a brand new treatment: an injection serum that unlocks DNA and becomes a woman in the prime of her life again (Margaret Qualley). Obviously, this little process has a price and we are not talking about a financial aspect. : this shocking feature film offers a flashy production, with an atmosphere flirting with madness and psychological horror and insane acting, also acidly tackling the societal aspect of beauty and sometimes absurd standards. Not to be put in front of just anyone, but the result should undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on you.

Gladiator II
Probably one of the most anticipated films of the year… but also one of the most feared. Released in 2000, Gladiator is a cult film and a masterpiece by Ridley Scott, which is back for a sequel which takes place twenty years later : we then follow the tragic destiny of Julius, the son of Maximus and Lucilla, who sees the city of Rome invaded by a merciless people who in turn lock him up in the Colosseum, forcing him to fight. More grandiose, more spectacular, more violent, more everything: Gladiator 2 promises to be a large-scale epic carried by a choice cast with Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Connie Nielsen, Denzel Wahsington and Josh Quinn. Obviously, the risk of damaging the notoriety of what is now a franchise is present, but we want to believe it. You even have to believe it, because we love Gladiator too much for its legacy to be sullied. Come on, it will do it.

Eventually
At the age of 87, Claude Lelouch still has something under his belt and will offer us “Finally”, his 51st and perhaps one of the most personal. To tell the truth, the project is currently quite enigmatic. All that is revealed is his pitch: Tired of lying, a lawyer, Lino, decides to drop everything and embark on a musical road trip all over France. But when we see the only trailer released, it’s difficult to detect much since it is interspersed with making-of images, where Lelouch and the actors (numerous and prestigious) are filmed behind the scenes, against a backdrop of very beautiful original music (signed Ibrahim Maalouf). So what, will it be a film where some people play themselves? It’s difficult to see clearly and Kad Merad himself says it in a promotional video: “there are so many surprises in the film that we decided not to show you anything.” In the meantime, this first trailer nevertheless promises great intensity and given the filmmaker’s filmography (Les Misérables, Roman de gare or A Man and a Woman, for which he received the Oscar for best foreign film), there It is indeed strong to believe that Finally has great potential.

The Most Valuable Commodity
Michel Hazanavicius has always been a fan of atypical offerings: La Classe americaine, The Artist or of course the first two OSS 117, he is one of the most popular directors in French cinema. And for once, he will give birth here to a project that is still as special since we are talking about an animated film with a very attractive artistic style, telling the story of a lumberjack and a lumberjack, reclusive in the forest during the war, who go to collect a baby mysteriously thrown from a train. The couple will bond in love with this little being, but will also have to defy the forbidden in a difficult and dangerous context. : in short, if The Most Precious Goods emerges as a little nugget to make tears flow, we won’t be surprised.

After the great success of the first episode in 2016, Disney is back with a sequel simply titled Moana 2: There we will find our dear heroine who, against all expectations, will receive an invitation from her ancestors which will take her to the other end of the Pacific Ocean. A future sure value? Probably, and if you want an animated film that’s tear-jerkingly beautiful, sunny, moving, funny and full of good humor, you’re probably in the right place. For little ones, it’s perfect, but it’s even more so for adults, so don’t hesitate.

Heretic
Hugh Grant in a psychological horror film where he also plays the role of the bad guy, that arouses curiosity. He plays the innocent Mr. Reed, who sees two young Mormons knocking at his door charged by their church with converting the inhabitants of the heart of the Colorado countryside. The catch (because there needs to be one)is that they find themselves trapped in his house which turns out to be a monstrous labyrinth. Why is Mr. Reed holding them hostage? How will they get out of this? So many questions which will (perhaps) be answered in this thriller directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, who had already co-directed 65 – the Earth Before) and Bryan Woods, XOXO and even Haunt.
