James Cameron, well known for his love of underwater exploration, played a key role as executive producer of Sanctum (2011)a film directed by Alister Grierson. Although he was not the director, Cameron’s influence was undeniable, notably thanks to his expertise in underwater shots and 3D relief.
Sanctum (2011) immerses viewers in a thrilling adventure, where a group of cave divers find themselves trapped in an immense network of underwater caves after their only escape route is flooded, caused by a tropical storm. Faced with inhospitable conditions and ever-present dangers, the team must demonstrate ingenuity and solidarity to find a path to freedom.
Filming was carried out in native 3D, with PACE Fusion 3-D technology, while using Sony CineAlta HDC-F950 cameras. In the USA, publisher Shout Factory has just officially released the film for the first time in 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray edition. This will be a presentation upscaled to 2160p which will mainly benefit from a new color calibration supervised in Dolby Vision.
The film will be accompanied by an original version rendered in your choice of DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0, all with two audio commentary tracks (including a new one with contributions from Emily Higgins and Billy Dunham).
