Libreby Mélanie Laurent (2024)
Exactly a year ago, we included in our top films and series Thievesand Mission : Impossible feminine, feminist, light and good vibe, seventh feature film by Mélanie Laurent; no time to say phew, the actress-director is already releasing a new film, this time on Prime (which is already home to her superb Madwoman’s Ball). Libreit is a biopic of Bruno Sulak (performed by Lucas Bravo), famous French robber with the big heart of the 80s, renowned for his good looks, his non-violent methods and his repeated escape attempts. If the film struggles to dig into the mentality of the person to whom it pays homage, the vibrant touch of Mélanie Laurent can be seen again, and we love the freshness of Léa Luce Busatonew to the screen to play Sulak’s companion.

The Area of Interestby Jonathan Glazer (2024)
It’s one of the event films of the year, and there’s something to be said for it. With The Area of Interest – Oscar 2024 you Best International Film a you Best sound –, Jonathan Glazer signs a contemplative feature film in which the action (almost non-existent) and the dialogues are only pretexts. The spectator finds himself in the same position as Hedwig Höss (Sandra Hueller), wife of a Nazi whose house borders Auschwitz, and who does not see, or no longer sees, the horror that burns around her. His daily life is like another world. She takes care of her garden. She manages her servants, some of whom are prisoners in the extermination camp. The children sometimes bathe in a nearby stream. Only the smokeTHE barbed wire or the viewpoints which surround it, macabre symbols, occasionally remind us of the existence of the horror of the neighboring concentration camp, without it being never shown or mentioned. Terrifying and brilliant.
