Dark Knight aficionados have already suffered numerous derivative products, but Warner Bros is pushing the limits of luxury and nonsense. After launching a line of “lifestyle” products at exorbitant prices – including skincare at $1,500 and designer lamps at $21,000 – the studio added the legendary Tumbler to its collection. Yes, the famous tank-shaped batmobile used by Batman in Christopher Nolan's trilogy!

Batman-style luxury

For the modest sum of three million dollars, ten wealthy fans will be able to afford a functional replica of this vehicle designed to fight crime in Gotham City.

Despite the outlandish proposition, this version of the Tumbler is impressive in its design and functionality. Designed in collaboration with Action Vehicle Engineering, the vehicle is equipped with a 6.2-liter Chevrolet LS3 engine, providing 525 horsepower and 659 Nm of torque. This engine is coupled to a GM 4L85E transmission, identical to that of Chevrolet utilities , to propel this 2.5 ton monster.

Its body is constructed from lightweight, robust materials including Kevlar, carbon fiber and fiberglass, reinforced with an aeronautical steel structure. Although it is completely functional, the Tumbler is not approved for public roads (phew).

Inside, lucky buyers will benefit from a customized interior, with Alcantara leather seats, a GPS navigation system and 10-inch screens. The controls also offer customization options, including the choice of left or right hand drive and a km/h or mph display. In true homage to Batman style, the Tumbler will of course only be available… in black.

For anyone who would like to put the vehicle to the test to rout the bandits, Warner Bros. has included several elements that enhance the dark, high-tech ambiance of the vehicle, such as jet engine simulation systems and a generator of smoke (!). To slow down this imposing machine, brake discs are installed on all four wheels. Buyers will also get a five-point safety harness, which is reminiscent of the requirements of a racing vehicle.

If this titanic investment seems out of reach for ordinary mortals, a 1/6 scale miniature version is also offered for $635, a more accessible alternative for fans of the saga. Certainly less impressive, this collectible model could satisfy those who do not have a Bruce Wayne budget.
