the next film will have a completely crazy budget

The license Mission Impossible continues to explode the counters in terms of greenbacks. After the $300 million allocated for Dead Reckoning part 1Paramount is planning even more for its sequel, which could mark Ethan Hunt's (Tom Cruise) final lap.

What's next for Mission Impossible 7?

Mission Impossible quickly revealed itself as the benchmark spy film license in the world, becoming familiar with its predecessor in the process. James Bond. Tom Cruise's thrilling performances in the role of Ethan Hunt have a lot to do with the success of the seven films that now comprise the franchise, which began in 1996. Almost 30 years later, the 61-year-old actor proves that 'he has not lost his flexibility in Dead Reckoning part 1a film nevertheless considered a small failure at the box office with its 500 million dollars in revenue (compared to those of the latest productions; Ghost Protocol et Rogue Nation close to 700 million, and Fallout around 800 million).

But not enough to cool Paramount, which announced an eighth opus (at the same time as Dead Reckoningboth films are considered a beetle). This is what we understand at the end of Christopher McQuarrie's film. Of course, Tom Cruise will be back for – perhaps – one last race. To accompany him, a large part of the casting has already been announced, including Pom Klementieff (Guardians of the Galaxy), and Vanessa Kirby, who starred in Napoleonand who will soon be starring in the Marvel film The Fantastic Four : First Steps for which she will lend her features to Jane Storm.

A colossal budget for Mission Impossible 8

Paramount intends to think big for the twilight of its saga. After putting a nice jackpot of $290 million on the table for the first part, the Hollywood studio spent no less than 400 million for its sequel. But as reported by the always very serious Hollywood Reporterthis nice sum injected is due to the problems that the film experienced during its production. “The project has had a long and difficult journey, with a budget reportedly approaching $400 million due to production delays, in part due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes,” reports the media. As a reminder, the film (still directed by Christopher McQuarrie) was initially scheduled to be released on June 26, 2024 in , but has since been postponed due to the screenwriters' strike which paralyzed all of Hollywood last year.

We then await an official title for this MI8, also called “Mission : Impossible : Dead Reckoning” (Part 2) as well as a first official trailer, which should confirm Ethan Hunt's quest to avenge the death of IIsa Faust by the mysterious Gabriel.
