Released in theaters on August 22, 2007, this signed film DJ Caruso features a rather nice cast: Shia LaBeouf, Carrie-Anne Moss, David Morse, Sarah Roemer, and even Viola Davis. You guessed ? It is Paranoid.

If the thriller is being talked about again today, it is for its quite surprising return to the forefront since it is currently the most viewed film in France on Netflix, ahead of Colombian, Sonic the Movie, Thelma the unicorn or Golden Kamui.

For what ? How ? Difficult to explain, although Paranoid has quite a few arguments to seduce. Beyond its casting, the film is a very free adaptation of Rear window by Alfred Hitchcock (1954). And his script was in the hands of a pretty good little guy in the film industry, a certain Steven Spielberg… who is also a producer alongside Ivan Reitman.

But actually, what does it say? Paranoid ?

In Paranoid (Disturbia in original version), we follow Kale Brecht, not really at his best after the sudden disappearance of his father in a car accident. A remark from his teacher makes him lose his temper, he attacks him and is sentenced to three months of house arrest, monitored by an electronic bracelet which prevents him from leaving a well-defined perimeter. A punishment that he turns into a vacation by hanging out on the internet, playing on the console and watching films until his mother cuts off all his means of entertainment. He then falls back on his window and plays the voyeur. Among his targets: Ashley, his pretty neighbor, but also Mr. Turner, a lonely man. Very quickly, the latter reveals the worst: he could well be a serial killer.

Paranoid launched Shia LaBeouf’s career on the big screen. At the time, the actor was best known for the series The Stevens War and some supporting roles in the cinema. A successful debut since the film with a budget of 20 million dollars grossed nearly 120 million. Since then, Shia LaBeouf has been the biggest star of his generation, even if today he is fighting for his career.

To finish, we leave you with a little anecdote to share with your friends at the end of the film: the houses of the hero and the big villain, which we see next to each other and opposite each other, were in actually located in two different cities during filming. We can’t guarantee that it will make you look like the movie buff of the century, but it comes at one point or another in the event of a gap.
