Change of gear for Netflix. After delighting fans with feel good series, first with the unexpected success of Nobody Wants This with Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, as well as the adorable season 3 ofHeartstopper for which we had a huge crush, the streaming giant makes a 180 degree turn with the release of the very gory Platform 2. An arrival which follows a first opus released almost five years ago and which was crowned with immense success, with nearly 83 million views, one of the best scores of all time for the platform. And if you were one of these many spectators, know that a scene from this new part answers one of the big questions of the first film.

Attention, spoilers. Platform 2 follows Perempuan (Milena Smit), a new prisoner at the 333-level prison. From the start of the film, she loses several of her fellow inmates with whom she had created bonds. But before dying, one of them confides in Perempuan a secret: there is a technique to escape. Each month, prison managers gaslight all prisoners to reset the level assignments and place them on their new floors. If Perempuan manages to pass herself off as dead during this reset, her body would be evacuated through the top of the pit, providing her with an opportunity to escape. To pretend to be dead, she must find a painting hidden in the lower floors and ingest a piece of it as the monthly gas spreads, the toxins in the paint acting as a temporary poison. By the end of the film Perempuan managed to put this plan into place. She then opens her eyes to discover how the prison managers carry out level reassignments…

In the first film, knowing how, each month, the prisoners were moved without their knowledge to wake up on a new floor was one of the big questions. In Platform 2so we learn that they are all gassed. And when Perempuan wakes up when she shouldn’t, she discovers several members of the organization in suits with gas masks. To move prisoners from one level to another, a phenomenon of weightlessness is created in the prison. The men in suits therefore do not have their foot on the ground but are in the air. And to evacuate all the dead bodies of the month, they use a net on which the corpses are piled up before being evacuated from below by floating.
