Tahiti, May 2, 2024 – The horror film “Marae”, filmed last year in Moorea, will be released on June 21 on OCS.

Filmed at Fenua from July 3 to September 6 last year, the film “Marae” will be released on June 21 on OCS. Scheduled to be broadcast in cinemas, “Marae” will ultimately be broadcast directly on the paid streaming platform.

The pitch has remained unchanged since filming. “Sarah is a former surfing champion whose career was shattered by an accident. When she hears about a virgin spot never surfed by man on a Polynesian island, she decides to take her three friends there. But she is warned: if no one has ever been there, it is because the island is taboo, inhabited by demons… Ignoring the warnings, the four friends discover a heavenly place there. But when one of them desecrates a marae, a sacred Polynesian place, what was supposed to be a dream will quickly turn into a nightmare…”

“Marae,” explains the press kit, “is a film set in the world of surfing, a ‘survival movie’ on heavenly Polynesian beaches, against a backdrop of French nuclear tests and radioactivity”.

The film is supposed to show “a fierce nature that does no favors for anyone. Sarah’s escape from monsters in the forest echoes her own quest for survival and resilience. “The aesthetic is that of the photo which speaks of solitude, abandonment and a danger which hides but is never far away…”, explains the director.

Starring in this TV film are Adèle Galloy, Marie Zabukovec, Marilyn Lima, the former Miss Tahiti, Vaimiti Teiefitu and Aurelien Recoing. The TV film is directed by Jacques Kluger with Fabien Adda on the screenplay and local support from Pacific TV Prod.

This TV film, lasting 85 minutes, can be seen on June 21.
