The new Netflix science fiction film from brothers Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, The Electric Statereveals its first images.
Pour Avengers 5 et 6Marvel has found directors and the saga is not likely to improve since it is the Russo brothers, already authors of the last two Captain America and the last two Avengers. They will receive, a priori, the sum of 80 million dollars for the realization of Avengers: Doomsday and of Avengers: Secret Warsto which will be added potential bonuses depending on the results of the two films at the box office.
But these are not the only projects of the two brothers: Joe Russo is preparing with his brother (in production) season 2 of the successful action and spy series Citadel for Amazon Prime Video. And finally the duo revealed images from their next sci-fi Netflix film, The Electric State, with its four-star cast and a whole universe of robots.
The Russos are doing Star Wars
The pitch of the film is as follows: “A teenager named Michelle meets a robot who quickly becomes her friend. The young girl will then discover that this robot was sent by her brother who has disappeared. With her new friend, the teenager will try to find him in a world ravaged by drone attacks and a vast conspiracy.. Joe Russo spoke for Vanity Fair the film in this way:
“The texture of the images was really powerful, and it felt like a story about broken families and broken people trying to find themselves in a broken world. It also resonated with us, raising our children in a very technological world.[…]The intention was to create complex feelings for you, where it’s both funny and tragic. The mythology behind the film is that robots were created in this world to be pleasant. »[…)L’intentionétaitdecréerdessentimentscomplexespourvousoùc’estàlafoisdrôleettragiqueLamythologiederrièrelefilmestquelesrobotsontétécréésdanscemondepourêtreagréables »
The cast is impressive with Netflix darling Millie Bobby Brown playing the lead role alongside Chris Pratt, Ke Huy Quan and friendly robots. Stanley Tucci and Giancarlo Esposito will be the villains of the film (a priori). Images without robots are unfortunately close to the aesthetics of The Gray Manbut those with robots call for a crazier universe, even almost cartoonish, a little more exciting.
The photos look nice and the film seems to juggle between a good-natured comedy and an effective sci-fi action film. Even if distrust remains in view of the two men at the helm, the film, which seems very family-friendly, could surprise. The release date is announced for early 2025 on Netflix.
