Apparently, ideas are already racing through Ridley Scott’s mind. In a few weeks, the director will celebrate the release of Gladiator 2, a part which arrives 24 years after the previous one. The legacy is immense, as is the budget (more than 300 million), and it will not soon be extinguished: the 86-year-old director is already imagining a third part as the end of the film, soon to be released in theaters, lends itself to development. another sequel!

Twenty-four years is how long we had to wait to discover, on the giant screens of cinemas, a new part of Gladiator. Certainly, Russell Crowe is no longer there to dazzle us, but there are still some great talents on display in this sequel. Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, Paul Mescal, Connie Nielsen, Joseph Quinn, May Calamawy and many more actors. Indeed, Ridley Scott did not choose just anyone for his casting, it must be said that Gladiator represents one of the big (and heavy) legacies of his filmography. However, the director already gives us the impression of being proud of the work accomplished.
A few weeks ago, Ridley Scott confided that Gladiator 2 was perhaps the “best thing he ever did” during his career. Just that! There is no doubt that this statement will intrigue more than one spectator and make everyone want to discover this action-packed epic. About it, Gladiator 2 would not have gone too far in this area and then, to make his job easier at the box office, he almost goes it alone at this time of year. Strictly speaking, only the output of Red Onea very expensive new production which brings together Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans, could overshadow him a little. Let’s see what will motivate the public the most!

Anyway, working on Gladiator 2 undeniably stimulated Ridley Scott’s creativity because the director would already have plans in mind to shoot a third opus ! At 86 years old, the filmmaker doesn’t seem to want to leave his seat and hang up his gloves. It was during an exchange with the editorial staff of The Hollywood Reporter that he mentioned this idea, far from being preposterous, of returning for a Gladiator 3. In reality, it is the purpose of this second part which makes a possible sequel make sense, especially since it is inspired by a very important saga in the history of cinema. Be careful, the following quote may put you on the path to the end of Gladiator 2don’t read it if you plan to maintain the element of surprise.

If this seems rather clear in Ridley Scott’s mind, there is still one unknown that can weigh heavily in the equation: the box office success of this Gladiator 2. Taking into account the fact that the production of this part resulted in a bill of several hundred million dollars – 310 million, to be more exact -, it would be better if the success was (very) largely there. Anyway, the name of Gladiator should be enough to attract the public, but the fact remains that Ridley Scott’s recent films are far from being financial successes…
