Lucas Bravo is he about to say goodbye to Emily in Paris ? The French actor, who plays Gabriel, the sexy cook who plays the whirlwind of life with said Emily, seems in any case ready to turn the page… Already, he is reaching the end of his contract, as he confides has 7 Days TVand he still doesn't know if he will compete again for the fifth season : “It will also depend on the direction of the character, of the series. Until now, I didn't have much of a say, and now that I'm no longer under contract, I'll be able to have the luxury of getting back on something that I have convictions about, so we'll see where it goes “he said.
Lucas Bravo: “I moved away from Gabriel”
Above all, Lucas admitted in an interview with IndieWire that he has explored his character with whom he no longer shares affinities. He regrets the “narrative soufflés”and the “lack of risk taking”. In short, things are seriously starting to go in circles and he can't take it anymore. Some fans don't either… “The 'hot boss' was really a part of me in Season 1, and we grew apart over the seasons because of the choices he makes and the direction he's takenrecognizes Lucas Bravo. I've never been so far from him.” The actor appreciated Gabriel in his early days, “there was a lot of me in him.”
And then, little by little, “he has become a kind of character unconscious of what surrounds him, of the dynamics, always victimizing himself and completely 'lost in translation', ignoring everything that is happening around him and manipulated by everyone”he complains. Lucas is no longer having fun and he says he regrets seeing “a character that I love so much and who has brought me so much, to slowly be turned into guacamole. I really distanced myself from him.”
A blatant lack of freedom
Lucas Bravo explains having “tried for seasons to bring nuances, but we have not not much freedom on the board. You can't change a word or an emotion. They know what they want and we just have to comply with it.” So, will we see him again in the series? He hesitates. He would like Gabriel to “rediscovers his fun, mischievous, playful, lively side”he explains. Lucas no longer wants “play a melancholy, sad, depressed and lost characterit's not fun anymore. It's a comedy, everyone around me is having fun, everyone is jumping in all directions, and I'm slowly sinking into I don't know what.”
He is nevertheless aware that the recipe for success‘Emily in Paris is not likely to be changed. And he insists: “I love the show. It started everything for me. I love the show and the people who work on it. Saying that, I feel like I'm not being kind or grateful, but when you love something , we want… we want the best version of it. I'm not going to lie, I was frustrated with the direction my character was taking. But we'll see where it goes. The series is not over”, concludes Lucas Bravo.
