Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets : Rupert Grint terrified during filming

Just like his character, Rupert Grint who plays the role of Ron Weasley, suffered from arachnophobia. Aged 13 during filming, his fear was so strong that he never managed to watch the entire scene where he finds himself, with Harry Potter, in the forest with the spider Aragog, a male Acromentula brought by Rubeus Hagrid at Hogwarts. In this scene, Ron’s scared look is very intense but the truth is that he wasn’t really acting at the time. His squirming and frightened movements were the result of his true reaction, terrified at the mere thought of “playing” with spiders. “The scenes in the spider den were scary, because I’m afraid of spiders. When I first saw Aragog, I wasn’t playing, I was genuinely terrified!” as reported by Allociné.
