The First Slam Dunk: the adaptation of the cult manga soon on DVD and VOD – Trailer

The First Slam Dunk is the first adaptation of Takehiko Inoue’s cult basketball manga. After a theatrical release last July, the film arrives on DVD and VOD on May 1, 2024.

The manga may have been a real phenomenon when it was published, but Slam Dunk had never been the subject of a film adaptation, unlike most of the flagship works of the genre (One Piece, Demon Slayer, Detective Conan, etc.). It is now done with The First Slam Dunkreleased in cinemas on July 26 and expected on DVD and VOD on May 1, 2024.

And, a rare occurrence to be highlighted, the film is directed by the author of the manga himself, Takehiko Inoue. This feature film explores from a new angle a crucial moment in the manga, the match against Sannoh Kogyo high school. Fans of the manga will be able to discover new facets of their favorite characters, and new elements.

The synopsis of The First Slam Dunk

Shohoku’s point guard, Ryota Miyagi, always plays smart and lightning fast, getting around opponents while maintaining his composure. Born and raised in Okinawa, Ryota had an older brother three years older. Following in the footsteps of the latter, a famous local player from a young age, Ryota also became addicted to basketball.

In his second year of high school, Ryota was part of the Shohoku High School basketball team, alongside Sakuragi, Rukawa, Akagi and Mitsui, and participated in the national inter-high school championship. Now, they are about to face the defending champions, the Sannoh Kogyo High School players.
