“Star Academy”: votes open in the West Indies for the final

More than 2.2 million additional people will be able to “type 1” or “type 2” starting this Tuesday evening. The TF1 channel will open the votes for the “Star Academy” final to the overseas departments and regions from the daily broadcast at 5:30 p.m., Le Parisien has learned.

After actress Firmine Richard highlighted last Saturday the lack of possibility for the Antilles to vote, the front page urgently deployed a voting procedure for the DROMs. Thus, it will be possible to vote from the end of the afternoon from the five French overseas departments as well as two communities: Guadeloupe, , Guyana, Réunion, Mayotte, Saint-Martin and Saint- Bartholomew.

Only calls will be possible for Marine or Ebony. The reason for this is a procedure for SMS messages that takes too long to put in place within such a tight time frame. The voting times will be the same as in mainland , the shutdown of the telephone lines will take place at the time reported live by Nikos Aliagas and visible live on TF 1 +, the digital platform of the first channel.

The fact that only residents of mainland France can vote to “save” the candidate of their choice sparked numerous reactions on social networks last Saturday after comments made live by Firmine Richard, while she was within the Ebony fan club in L'Île-Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis). She then called on the “diaspora” who reside in mainland France to vote for the young woman. Although she grew up in the region, Ebony is of Guadeloupean origin, daughter of Thierry Cham, a very popular singer on the Caribbean island.

The TF1 talent show is usually broadcast on a delayed basis on local channels in the overseas territories, which prevents overseas viewers from being able to vote, since the program has already ended at that time in mainland France. But with the deployment of platforms in recent years, it has become easier for the territories concerned to watch programs live at the time of their retransmission in mainland France, for example on Saturdays at the end of the afternoon for the “Star Academy” in the West Indies or late at night from Saturday to Sunday on Island.

The final of the twelfth season of “Star Academy” pits the Northerner Marine, aged 24, against the Francilienne Ebony, 20 years old. One of them will be crowned at the end of the program broadcast on Saturday evening from 9:10 p.m. on TF1 and will succeed Pierre Garnier. She will win a contract with Sony , as well as the sum of 100,000 euros.
