Moto2™ star, Diogo Moreira (Italtrans Racing), and eight-time Supermoto World Champion, Thomas Chareyre, created a surprise during the 100 km dei Campioni, the annual race organized by Valentino Rossi, by winning in front the host and Luca Marini (Honda HRC). The Franco-Brazilian duo took the lead after a great start and held off the “Doctor” and his brother, winners last year, until crossing the line eight seconds ahead of the legendary Motor Ranch in Tavullia.
The five-stage race began with a Le Mans-style sprint to the bikes, where Luca Marini initially led before handing over to Valentino Rossi. However, a slight slip from the No. 46 and the relentless pace of Diogo Moreira allowed the newcomers to take off and secure victory.
The podium was completed by Elia Bartolini and Lorenzo Baldassarri, who finished 45 seconds behind the winners. The battle for the final podium spot saw them edge out Andrea Migno and Franco Morbidelli (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team), who started from third.
MotoGP™ stars Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) and Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) finished sixth, while further back Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) was partnered by the island's TT legend by Man, Michael Dunlop. However, despite the immense talent of both men, the duo finished last, capping a thrilling day of motorsport at the legendary Valentino Rossi circuit.
