MotoGP – Change among rider numbers in 2025

MotoGP recently revealed the provisional list of riders who will take part in the 2025 season, with the numbers associated with them. Unlike last season, there will be a bunch of new lineups to remember at the start of the season, which is partly due to the arrival of three rookies.

Their numbers not yet being allocated in MotoGP, they will keep those they used in Moto2. Namely, No. 35 for Somkiat Chantra, No. 54 for Fermín Aldeguer, and 79 for Ai Ogura.

For its part, Pecco Bagnaia did not repeat its success, and therefore lost the privilege of being able to display the No. 1 on its fairing. He will therefore return to the No. 63, which he used until 2022, before becoming MotoGP world champion.

Pedro Acosta will also change the sticker on the front of his KTM. Deprived of his favorite number for his debut in the premier categories, the departure of his garage neighbor, Augusto Fernández, will allow him to once again wear number 37. Distinctive sign with which he was crowned Moto2 world champion in 2023. No. 31 is therefore available again.

On this list, the name of Jorge Martin is still associated with No. 89. The Spaniard may, however, change his mind during the winter, to carry out the pre-season tests at Sepang, equipped with the number 1. So he would take him to Aprilia.

Change in team names in MotoGP

The team names will also change somewhat. The following table brings together the official names of the eleven formations for 2025. The first big change is on the side of Pramac. The 2023 champion satellite team has now parted ways with Ducati. Miguel Oliveira and Jack Miller will compete under the banner of 'Prima Pramac Yamaha'.

As for the Honda factory team, the historic departure of title sponsor Repsol gives way to the 'Honda HRC'.
