In Barcelona, Michelin was faced with the challenge of providing a slightly different range of tires to what it offered to the teams in May, as the temperatures in November were not the same. During the testing sessions for the Barcelona Grand Prix, the drivers explored the entire range of tires available to them to refine their choices. The operation, however, proved successful. A final challenge successfully met by the MotoGP manufacturer, which overall draws an excellent result from its 2024 season.
Last Sunday, MotoGP completed its tour of twenty Grands Prix in Barcelona. A last minute change of plan forced by the devastating floods which hit the Valencia region. The discipline and all the stakeholders who are active during the organization of a Grand Prix were however able to bounce back accurately to offer us the best possible outcome during this final which hosted the climax of the duel between Jorge Martin and Pecco Bagnaia.
For Michelin, the sole manufacturer of the championship, the stakes were even greater, since the French company had to develop a range of unique tires for this race, the cooler temperatures of November not allowing the manufacturer to reuse the range offered. in May, for the Catalan Grand Prix, which was held on the same track.
Michelin, however, took up the challenge, and the drivers were satisfied with the harder tires provided for the Barcelona GP. Piero Taramassomanager of two-wheel competition at Michelin, is therefore delighted with this brilliantly met challenge, and speaks with pride of the brand's journey throughout the 2024 season.
