Every year it is eagerly awaited. The first preparatory winter test for the following season takes place two days after the last Grand Prix and thus offers us an early taste of what 2025 will be like. A season where there will be numerous changes on the MotoGP grid and even concern headliners. Starting with the fresh world champion Jorge Martin, who will leave the Ducati fold to join that of Aprilia. The Spaniard was thus able to get a first idea of the potential of the RS-GP, having descended from the best bike in the field. He will not be the only one to make this journey since Marco Bezzecchi was also in the official Aprilia box on Tuesday in Barcelona.
On the Ducati side, it was the rise of Marc Marquez within the factory team that attracted the most attention from the media and fans. The eight-time world champion will thus move directly from a GP23 to a GP25 and will thus fight on equal terms with his new box neighbor Francesco Bagnaia. In the KTM clan, it is Pedro Acosta who moves from the satellite team to the official team alongside Brad Binder, while Enea Bastiainini and Maverick Viñales were able to discover the RC16 of the Tech3 team. At Yamaha, if the two official riders remain in place, Jack Miller and Miguel Oliveira made their debut aboard the M1s recovered by Pramac.
Three rookies also discovered the premier category with the track debut of Fermin Aldeguer on the Ducati Gresini, Moto2 champion Ai Ogura on the Aprilia Trackhouse (86 laps covered!) and Somkiat Chantra on the Honda LCR. As for the timesheet, it was dominated by Alex Marquez clearly happy to recover a GP24. But giving too much importance to the hierarchy of this first day of 2025 would be risky as the objectives of each driver were different during this day…
