MotoGP Barcelona J2, Michele Pirro (Ducati Q22/S21): “When Dall’Igna makes choices, he always has valid reasons”

Obviously, Michele Pirro is not in Barcelona to achieve big results, but simply to replace Fabio Di Giannantonio, absent since Malaysia. If he monopolizes the back of the grid, his testimony is interesting because he is one of the rare elect to have tested the Ducati Desmosedici GP25, the next vintage of the firm. Thus, he can directly compare three generations of Italians, and bring us juicy information on the current dynamic among the reds.

Once again, the questions were not focused on his performance on the track, but rather on his feelings behind the bars of the GP23. « Arriving at the first turn, I already couldn't see anything with all the drivers. It's interesting to be here with the GP23, which I can compare to the GP24 and the GP25. I did my race with the aim of bringing back as much information as possible, and what is certain, it's that the GP23 needed something else to work » affirmed the Italian in the columns of GPOne.

What does he mean by that? Would he have the answer to these drivers who are struggling to understand why the GP24 is so far from the GP23? « The GP23 was not created for these tires. I noticed that I was having trouble managing the sliding when entering turns. The reactions of the bike are abrupt, this causes problems at the front. The GP24 and GP25 have what it takes to avoid this problem. When Gigi Dall'Igna makes choices, he always has valid reasons. »
he clarified.

Already 38 years old, Michele Pirro no longer has as much of a taste for speed as before. His role as a test rider for Ducati could well come to an end in a while; at least, that's what he suggests. « Running wasn't my goal. The track doesn't really match what I like. I no longer have the ambition to be a pilot, even if I enjoyed it, the goal now is to bring information back to engineers, nothing more. »
he concluded.
