MotoGP, Barcelona J2, Acosta and Marquez clash: Pedrosa referee

The incident between Pedro Acosta and Marc Marquez during the Barcelona Sprint has reignited the debate over the eight-time world champion's driving style. If the sporting consequences were immediate for Acosta, questions about Marquez's responsibility and the difficulties he encountered on certain circuits persist.

From the first round,
Pedro Acosta was forced to retire after a collision with Marc Marquezthus losing the front part of its fairing. A disappointing situation for the young Spaniard, who seemed well on his way to the race after a good performance in testing. “ I expected it to be better, because he got off to a good start. In the last few races he delighted us with some good sprints and I thought it was going to go well. Then he had this contact, and he lost positions“, declared his colleague from KTM
Dani Pedrosa.

But, according to him, the problems ofAcosta in the turns confirmed his doubts: “ the feelings he had already told us yesterday were somewhat confirmed.
He couldn't have those good feelings in the corners of this circuitespecially in the last sector. He lost a few tenths each time in this part of the circuit
. » However, he remains optimistic for the future: “ today he will surely have obtained a little information and maybe tomorrow he will be able to improve it. »

Dani Pedrosa : « Marc Marquez shouldn't have closed the line so much because he left Pedro Acosta without space »

The incident with Marquezwhich cost dearly
Acostawas analyzed from another angle by the RC16 test driver. “ If you look closely, it is clearly above the vibrator, the entire inside line is taken. Yes, it's true that Marc came from the outside with more speed and that perhaps he was already taking the leadbut he shouldn't have closed the line so much because he left Pedro without space“, he explained. He added: “ Maybe Marc could have ridden a little more outside and left a little more space. » An analysis which suggests that the incident could have been avoided if Marquez had been more careful.

Despite this frustrating situation, Acosta can still learn from this experience and hope for a better result in future occasions…
