By helping her leader, Enea Bastianini also did herself a favor. Eighth on the starting grid for the Sprint this Saturday in Barcelona, the Italian managed a sensational takeoff to dive into the lead on the inside of the first corner. Overtaken in the process by his compatriot and teammate Pecco Bagnaia, the rider of the No. 23 Ducati then fought a great battle with Jorge Martín (Pramac).
The Transalpine rider managed to overtake the Spaniard on the last lap, allowing Bagnaia, winner, to take two additional points from his rival for the championship. By finishing second, Bastianini himself carried out a great operation since he stole third place from Marc Márquez (Gresini) by five points. It will be another great battle to follow this Sunday behind the two duettists for the world title.
« I felt very good on the bike, confided Enea Bastianini after the Sprint. The start was amazing, I'll have to watch it again! This really helped me get closer to Pecco, as I was in the lead after the first corner. I stayed behind Jorge then, I did everything to reduce the gap and I was able to overtake him on the last lap. I am very happy to finish on the podium. »
