At the dawn of this nineteenth and penultimate stage of the MotoGP world championship, the paddock flew to Sepang for the Malaysian Grand Prix. For this first free practice session, it was Francesco Bagnaia who set the best time of the session in 1:58:795. The Italian took the lead ahead of Maverick Vinales and Marco Bezecchi. The double reigning champion hit hard from the start of this race meeting, showing himself very comfortable aboard his Ducati. His championship rival, Jorge Martin, finished only in sixth place, just over a second and a half behind the Turinese. For our French, Fabio Quartararo crossed the finish line in eighth position, with a time of 2:00:584, around a second faster than his compatriot Johann Zarco, riding the Honda LCR.
