MotoGP, Pedro Acosta: “my relationship with KTM is strong, we will do great things together”

Pedro Acosta, a 20-year-old Spanish prodigy, will continue his progression with KTM, joining the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team for the 2025 MotoGP season. This change comes with a renewal of his multi-year contract, thus affirming his status as a key driver for the Austrian brand. MotoGP Rookies Cup champion in 2020, Moto3 world champion in his first season in 2021, and Moto2 world champion in 2023, Acosta becomes the face of a promising future for KTM in the premier category.

In a recent interview with Sky.it, Acosta
shared his feelings about this new stage. “
It’s an honor to be KTM’s priority,” he said. However, he also recognizes that this leadership position at KTM
asks him to evolve more quickly: “ sometimes you have to grow up faster than usual. I still lack experience and sometimes I need more time. »

Acostawho has experienced ups and downs during the season, sees this new chapter at KTM
Factory
as a simple continuation of his journey: “
I think the only thing that will change is that I will no longer wear the red shirt, but the orange. This is the only big change. »

Despite some recent falls, the “Tiburón de Mazarrón” (the Shark of Mazarrón) remains focused on the importance of patience in its progression: “ MotoGP is not as easy as Moto2. There’s so much to master, and it’s easy to get a little lost. Sometimes it’s better to slow down and think about what we can do with the equipment we have. »

Pedro Acosta: « sometimes winning doesn’t mean being first »

For him, adaptation is key, and he has already demonstrated his resilience by returning to previous settings to find stability: “ we returned to Aragon with a motorcycle and adjustments from America, but still with the basis of the beginning of the year. »

In search of victory, Acosta tasted the feeling of being close to the summit before encountering obstacles. However, he learns lessons about consistency and long-term strategies: “ winning is power. But sometimes winning doesn’t mean being first; finishing second can be worth more than losing everything by wanting too much. »

Acosta considers its relationship with
KTM as a sort of “marriage,” and it’s clear that his engagement with the brand goes beyond this season. He says on motosan: “ non, I don’t think I’ll change bikes. My relationship with KTM is strong, it’s something difficult to find. We will do great things together. »

While we expect a lot from his first official season with
KTM Factory and 2025, Pedro Acosta keeps a measured approach, confident in the potential of his team and ready to let his talent flourish to bring KTM even higher in MotoGP.
