Real Madrid megastar Mbappe branded ‘mediocre’ by former World Cup winner

Kylian Mbappe is currently with the French national team, and while there, he has faced criticism from Christophe Dugarry, a former French international and World Cup winner.

Dugarry voiced his concerns while discussing Mbappe’s performance at the start of the season. Despite the statistics showing Mbappe in a positive light, Dugarry believes there is much room for improvement.

Dugarry began by acknowledging that, on paper, Mbappe has had a successful start to the season.

“It’s a successful start to the season, he scored in the first game, he just scored a brace, if you stick strictly to the statistics, it’s a success.

He’s there to score goals. Then, in the game, he and his team have to be much better,” Dugarry said as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

Mediocre at best

Dugarry went on to say that, despite his impressive goal tally, Mbappe has been “mediocre and insufficient” in his overall play for quite some time now.

This criticism isn’t limited to his recent performances with Real Madrid; Dugarry also highlighted his lacklustre displays for both the French national team and Paris Saint-Germain over the past several months.

“Mbappe, despite important statistics and goals, has been mediocre and insufficient in the game for a long, long time. For several months now, whether with the French national team, with Paris Saint-Germain or currently at Madrid.”

According to Dugarry, Mbappe must work on several aspects of his game. “He needs to improve as an attacker,” Dugarry explained.

“He is making less and less of a difference and needs to question himself. He will have to progress in his game.”

Dugarry also pointed out Mbappe’s technical limitations, saying, “We also see Mbappé ‘s technical limits.

“We know that he is not in the top 10 of the most technical players. And today his limits are evident with a player like Vinicius at his side,” he added.

Dugarry concluded his remarks by emphasising that Mbappe needs to elevate his game if he wants to be seen as one of the best in the world.

In essence, Dugarry’s comments suggest that while Mbappe’s statistics may be impressive, there is still much work to be done to improve his overall game and live up to his full potential.
