The Moroccan city of Fez recently witnessed two horrific incidents of domestic violence, which led to the alert of both local and security authorities. These two incidents shocked the local community and highlighted the issue of violence against women.
In the first incident, a man committed a murder against his wife in circumstances that are still mysterious. As for the second incident, a husband threw his wife from the balcony of their apartment located on the second floor of a residential building in the city.
Immediately upon receiving reports of these two incidents, the security and judicial authorities moved quickly. The competent Public Prosecution has instructed the security services to conduct a comprehensive and accurate investigation to uncover the circumstances of these two crimes and determine the motives behind them.
This comes at a time when demands are increasing for tightening legal and social measures to combat domestic violence in Morocco. These two incidents indicate the urgent need for more efforts in the field of awareness and protection for women victims of violence.
