Swiss right-back Jordan Lotomba, 25, has been transferred from Nice to Dutch club Feyenoord Rotterdam, while Tunisian left-back Ali Abdi has arrived from Caen on the Côte d’Azur, the Côte d’Azur club announced on Monday.
Lotomba, a Swiss international (8 caps), has signed a contract until 2027 with Feyenoord Rotterdam, the club with which he will play in the Champions League, notably against Lille, on the 8th day of the competition.
Arriving in Nice from Young Boys Bern in the summer of 2020 for seven million euros, Lotomba was under contract with Nice until June 2025. He played 143 matches in all competitions and scored two goals for the Aiglons. But he saw the arrival of French international Jonathan Clauss at the end of July, who came to compete with him.
The amount of the transaction was not revealed by the club, like that of the arrival of the left-handed defender from Caen, Ali Abdi. The latter, aged 30, Tunisian international (28 selections), is capable of playing on the left flank as well as the right of the defense.
He has been selected for his country’s international matches against Madagascar in Radès on September 5 and Gambia in Morocco on September 10, as part of the qualifications for the next African Cup of Nations.
“He is a player with a lot of volume, forward-looking, powerful and good at finishing,” Florian Maurice, the sporting director, said on the club’s website. “He is coming off some very good seasons in Ligue 2, we are convinced that he can move up a level with us.”
A member of the Ligue 2 team of the year last season, Abdi played 33 league games with Caen, scoring nine goals and providing one assist. This season, he has only played two Ligue 2 games with the Normandy club.
