“The flames were coming out through the roof”: in Bono, a violent fire broke out in a lodge

For Christmas, six people were accommodated in a gîte at Bono, rue Pasteur. But the tenants became disillusioned this afternoon of December 25, 2024, around 4 p.m. “The power went out, there was crackling and we saw the flames as soon as we went out,” says one of the tenants wrapped in a survival blanket. They quickly evacuated the scene and no one was injured. Five engines were moved with nineteen firefighters. The large ladder was deployed and two hoses were needed to bring the fire under control. The power was cut throughout the street by Enedis during the intervention.

“The flames were coming out of the roof”

The second deputy mayor, Alain Brulé, was on site. “I saw the smoke from my house and I came straight away,” he says. Everything went wrong and the attic burst into flames. Flames were coming out of the roof. Despite the fact that it is a standard accommodation, that does not prevent an accident from happening.” The owners, with closed faces, collaborated with the emergency services to put out this violent fire.

When we arrived on site, around 4:30 p.m., only thick smoke was coming from the house. “The firefighters still have several hours to go despite everything, to be sure that the fire does not start again,” announces the gendarmerie present on the scene. All the attics and the first floor were affected, approximately 30 m².”
