Revealed with great fanfare at the Game Awards, The Witcher 4 continues to be revealed. After the information on the character of Ciri, the game map or even the way in which the player's choices will impact the story, today details on the romances are reaching us.
Towards very “convincing” romances
An important element of The Witcher games, romances will be there in The Witcher 4, but the studio wanted to develop its concept rather than making it a simple box to check in its specifications.
This is notably what Sebastian Kalemba, director of the game, confirmed, confirming that the studio wanted to further explore the depth of relationships in this new opus.
It's part of how we make games. It's part of human nature. This is completely normal. Without that, I don't think we could tell the whole story.
As always, we want to give them a lot of attention and make them very interesting and very compelling. So it's not about making a love story for the sake of making a love story. This is not the CDPR way.
If the choices of The Witcher 3 were rather limited in terms of romances, Cyberpunk 2077 brought more relief to relationships, and it seems that The Witcher 4 will develop this aspect even more.
However, we will have to wait before knowing for sure since the release of the game still seems quite far away. It could even be that the title will be released on the next generation of consoles, according to the studio's evasive statements on the subject.
