Sarah Michelle Gellar revealed she once requested a day off so she could attend Taylor Swift's 'Eras' tour.
The actress is currently promoting the Dexter prequel series Dexter: Original Sin alongside co-star Christian Slater.
During an interview on Le spectacle Drew Barrymoreshe revealed that she went to Miami in October to see one of Swift's final “Eras” shows, and called the performance “incredible.”
She then added that in order to have the opportunity to go, she continually asked to take time off from filming. “He knew that was the only thing I cared about at work,” she said, referring to Slater. “I'm like, I just need to take a Friday off. » She told Barrymore that the show wondered if she needed a day off to care for her children.
“Well, I’m going to Miami to see the Eras Tour,” she recalled explaining. “I saw her in Los Angeles, but she didn’t do “Department of Tortured Poets.” So, I wanted to go see “Tortured Poets” and I was able to see Florence Welch.
Welch joined Swift on stage for a duet of their collaborative track “Florida!!! ”, with the Florence + The Machine musician joining her during the second verse of the track “The Tortured Poets Department”.
Before that, Gellar went to see Swift in August 2023, before the release of “The Tortured Poets Department.” At the time, she shared a post on Instagram, writing, “Officially in my era” and showing off her friendship bracelets for the tour.
Swift performed the mammoth tour's very last scheduled concert in Vancouver, Canada, on December 8, and soon after, it was revealed that the tour was the highest-grossing of 2024 – beating out competition from Coldplay, Bruce Springsteen , The Rolling Stones, Madonna. and more.
The tour lasted 21 months in total, across 149 concerts, and broke the record for the highest-grossing tour of all time, grossing a total of $2.2 billion (£1.73 billion).
Last December, halfway through the tour, it became the first to gross $1 billion (£796 million). Prior to this, it was estimated that once completed, the tour would be the most lucrative in music history. In total, 10,168,008 people around the world attended “Eras” shows.
Elsewhere, it was revealed that a book about the 'Eras' tour sold more than 800,000 copies in its first weekend of release.
It's been a banner year for Swift, with her latest album “The Tortured Poets Department” becoming the biggest of the year in the US, earning 4.66 million equivalent album units in the first half of This year. It also became the first album by a woman to spend its first 12 weeks atop the Billboard 200 chart.
As for Gellar, Dexter: Original Sin takes place 15 years before the events of the original series. Patrick Gibson plays the younger version of Dexter Morgan while Michael C. Hall lends his voice to the character's inner monologue.
The show will run for 10 episodes and is now available to stream on Paramount+.
