Firefighters were called to trash fires on the evening of Saturday, December 21 in the Villeneuve district of Grenoble. When they arrived on site, around 8:30 p.m., they were the target of firework mortars.
Police forces, including a CRS crew, went to the site. However, one of the mortar shots hit the balcony of an apartment which burst into flames. Despite the intervention of firefighters, equipped with two water hoses, the fire spread inside the home.
The four occupants of the apartment, an adult and three children, were extracted from the accommodation by four police officers who inhaled smoke. They were taken care of by emergency services and left there. The family was rehoused by the City of Grenoble, according to the firefighters.
