The Journal du Québec has identified the cities in which the cost of houses is more affordable for young families. In Charlevoix, Saint-Urbain and Les Éboulements have median prices below $200,000. This price is much higher in Saint-Irénée and Petite-Rivière-Saint-François.
In Saint-Urbain, the median price is set at $142,600. The median price indicates that half of the deals were completed at a lower price and half at a higher price.
This price is $180,000 in Les Éboulements for 21 houses for sale. Saint-Hilarion comes in 3rd place with a price of $211,000. The median price is higher in Notre-Dame-des-Monts at $255,000.
At the other end, we find Petite-Rivière-Saint-François ($410,000) and Saint-Irénée ($404,500). Both of these municipalities offer river views, which often drive up land values and costs.
In La Malbaie, the median price is $215,000 for 62 sales. The price increases in Clermont to reach $235,000. Baie-Saint-Paul has a fairly high median price at $323,500 while there are around fifty residences for sale.
Le Journal de Québec analyzed data from its real estate transactions application, enriched with information from the latest Census. An interactive map of all of Quebec has been developed.
