At 60, the Vichyssois recently participated in the auditions for “France has incredible talent”. A competition that he will attempt again in 2025, hoping to do better than the first time.
Saint Philip discovered singing quite late. “One fine day, I started humming. And it wasn’t that bad, even though I had never sung in my life”remembers the native of Clermont-Ferrand. Admirer of Véronique Sanson, Barbara, Nicole Croisille and Nicoletta, Saint Philippe believes he imitates them “pretty good”. In fact, he decided to publish his vocal performances on social networks. “I don’t know why I came up with the idea of putting my songs on the Internet”explains the one who appeared in a humorous video by Laurent Baffie. “It was a Tuesday afternoon, I remember it very well. I was on my way to my ballet class, and I ran into him. Certainly this video gave me a little boost”remembers Saint Philip.
From small to big screen
One day, the Vichyssois receives a call from a television producer. “This gentleman told me that M6 liked what I was doing and asked me if I would agree to sing for the channel”. Surprised, Saint Philip “already saw himself at the top of the poster, as Charles Aznavour said”and accepted the proposal without hesitation. “Perhaps I could have thought a little longer before getting involved in this. Because I first had to do some paperwork, and then I had to go to Paris to do tests”explains the singer, for whom everything happened very quickly. Enthusiastic, Saint Philippe had the opportunity to present his talent in front of the four members of the jury, namely Éric Antoine, Marianne James, Hélène Ségara and Sugar Sammy, but unfortunately did not qualify for the rest of the competition. The Vichyssois will nevertheless be back on the imposing stage of “France has incredible talent” on the occasion of the 2025 season, as the person concerned explains with a smile: “A while after filming, the producer contacted me again and asked if I wanted to do it again next year. So I accepted”.
Growing popularity
From now on, Saint Philippe no longer goes unnoticed. His passage in “France has incredible talent” only increased its popularity. “I am recognized every day in Vichy. I was even recognized in Paris recently”he shares. “I get asked for selfies and autographs”testifies the singer, who did not expect to experience such success. “I am very surprised because I receive a lot of congratulatory messages every day. People are really nice”. But Saint Philippe knows that social networks have greatly contributed to his success, he who is followed by nearly 12,000 subscribers on Instagram. “It’s a real springboard”recognizes the Vichyssois. There is therefore no age for success, and Saint Philippe seems to be living a waking dream.
