On the real estate side, a major change is coming from January 1, 2025. From now on, it will be prohibited to rent an apartment or a house with a “G” energy label. This concerns hundreds of thousands of homes.
Under the roofs of Paris there are many thermal sieves. From January 1, 2025, those classified as “G”, the lowest level, will be prohibited for rental. Consequence: many owners had to start work. Moreover, in a 9 m² studio concerned, they are almost finished. With the windows, it was also necessary to insulate the walls and attic for a budget of 9,000 euros to go from “G” to “D”. The owner recognizes it: he would not have carried out the work without the new law.
A few days before the deadline, companies in the sector are in great demand for these last-minute renovations. It takes 800 to 1,000 euros per square meter to significantly improve the energy performance rating. The ban on “G” rated housing is just the beginning. Energy strainers will gradually be banned for rental within 10 years.
