The two suspects arrested yesterday after two parcel bombs exploded in Geneva on August 20 in Saint-Jean and on November 25 in Grange-Canal, will be blamed for a third explosion.
According to The Geneva Tribunethe two brothers, would also be warned for an explosion which targeted a mailbox on rue du Vélodrome in Plan-les-Ouates on April 4.
An employee of the watchmaker Patek Philippe was injured in Saint-Jean. It is suspected that another employee of the factory was the target of an explosive trap in Grange-Canal. The Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office has taken these two men into custody for attempted murder, endangering the lives of others, attempted extortion and blackmail and use of explosives, recall the two media outlets. The two men would deny having any connection with Patek Philippe or its employees.
The investigation is in the hands of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office (MPC). He alone has jurisdiction in matters involving the use of explosives. The MPC requested the detention of the two suspects. For the moment, nothing is known about the reasons for these explosions. The MPC simply informed Keystone-ATS that “investigations are still ongoing, in order to examine all possible avenues”, and that at this stage of the investigations, it was not in a position to say more about this affair.
