Tuesday December 17, 2024, an evening was organized at the Atelier de Lesneven to celebrate the retirement of Fañch Le Berre who taught for 24 years at Diwan, including 22 at the Diwan school in Lesneven. The event brought together current and former parents of students, as well as teachers from the establishment.
Before becoming a teacher, Fañch Le Berre was first a farmer for ten years in Plouider, at the beginning of the 1990s. However, after five years of activity, he began to question his place in an agricultural world in full swing. mutation. At the same time, he often welcomes his nephew to the farm, sharing his knowledge with him. “My nephew asked a lot of questions, and I enjoyed answering him,” he confides.
He joined Lesneven in 1996
This is how he understood that the desire to teach ran through his veins. He then plans to take the national education exam to become a school teacher. But in 1994, he learned that the Diwan school was looking for interns. “Even though I knew Breton and could speak it with my family, I did not feel capable of teaching in this language,” he admits. He nevertheless tried his luck and had interviews at the Diwan training center, then based in Tréglonou. “I realized that I could hold a conversation entirely in Breton,” he remembers. He began his teaching career in 1994 in Trégunc, in South Finistère, before joining Lesneven in 1996, where he will remain until the end of his career in January 2025.
At the helm for 17 years
“The Lesneven teaching team brought me a lot. I taught small section classes, CE1 and CP and managed the school for 17 years.” In retirement, he plans to travel to Brittany, immerse himself in reading and devote time to his passion for genealogy.
