A new step has been taken in the process of revising the Fire risk coverage plan of the MRC de La Nouvelle-Beauce, while the document has just been submitted to the Ministry of Public Security for final approval.
The plan was adopted by the council of mayors of the MRC, as well as by the elected officials of the 11 municipalities that make it up, after being submitted to a public consultation.
As soon as it is certified by the Government of Quebec, the MRC will be able to begin its implementation, which notably includes the implementation of the new agricultural building inspection service with the hiring of a prevention specialist.
Basically, the coverage plan is a planning document that identifies fire risks in New Beauce, in order to optimize resources, equipment and fire safety prevention measures. It is this plan which optimizes the efficiency of services and which strengthens the protection of the population.
Cellular coverage
In support of the Quebec Federation of Municipalities, the council of the MRC of La Nouvelle-Beauce adopted a resolution to ask the main political parties at the federal level to include in their next electoral platform, the obligation for all companies cellular service providers to enter into roaming agreements so that cellular service customers, regardless of their provider, can benefit from the presence of cell sites in the region where they are located.
Cellular coverage remains incomplete in Quebec despite the Quebec government’s commitment to achieve it by October 2026. A change in regulations could perhaps correct the situation.
For the prefect of Nouvelle-Beauce, Gaétan Vachon, this request is of great importance for the quality of life of citizens and their own security. In addition, this is favorable to socio-economic development, particularly in a context where automation is becoming an essential solution to the labor shortage.
