The mystery is partly solved. On the night of Monday October 14 to Tuesday October 15, 2024, cars caught fire in a Mercedes dealership on rue Panhard, in Évreux (Eure). Alerted around 5:15 a.m., around twenty firefighters intervened in the Nétreville activity zone to control the fire which was, without a doubt, intentional.
Around fifteen cars burned
The damage was significant since around fifteen cars burned and the car wash adjoining the dealership was also damaged.
As operators videos and telephonythe Ebroician police services identified two individuals involved in this fire. They are both aged 17 ans and domiciled in Louviers. On the night of the incident, they went to the scene with a third persone. One of the minors arrested, the driver, admitted to having been present but claimed to have remained in the vehicle. The other minor, for his part, denied having been there.
Both were referred on Thursday December 12, 2024. While awaiting their summons to appear in court, they must undergo judicial review.
The sponsor still in the wild
If these arrests make it possible to resolve part of the case, it would seem that the third individual – still in nature – is the instigator of this fire which would have targeted a very specific vehicle. The two minors refused to denounce their accomplice.
Furthermore, investigators make no link between the fire at the Mercedes dealership and those which marked Évreux at the start of 2023. As a reminder, more than 130 cars had been destroyed or damaged at the dealerships in Évreux and Normanville within a few days.
