WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) seems determined to make people talk about it and not in the good sense of the word so we might as well warn you. The organization’s latest blunder took place during the NextGen finals and what we are about to tell you is as incongruous as it is astonishing. Jakub Mensik who played his match against the Tricolore Artgur Fils was ordered by WADA to do a doping test in the middle of a match! The managers saw fit to apply a doping test to him between two sets, which is both totally unusual but also inappropriate. because this of course had an impact on Mensik who joined the court in a clear state of agitation and he ended up losing the match with a score of 4-2, 4-3(4) and 4-2.
Fonseca rocks at NextGen
The one who is not giving up and who continues to prove that he will be talked about in 2025 is the young Brazilian Joao Fonseca. After beating Fils in his first match to everyone’s surprise, Fonseca didn’t give up and beat Learner Tien with a score of 4-0, 4-0, 1-4 and 4-2 in just over one hour of play. Remember the name of this young person who promises wonders in the near future.
The rest of the day’s results
The surprise of the day was the defeat of Shang Juncheng. The Chinese faced the American Nishesh Basavaredy, and the latter won the duel with a score of 3-4 4-2 4-2 4-1. The day was prolific for the Americans since Alex Michelsen also won his duel against Luca Van Asche.
