Invited this Wednesday on the Spanish show El Hormiguero, Joselu shared memorable memories of his time at Real Madrid and expressed his admiration for Kylian Mbappé. Currently a player for Al-Gharafa SC in Qatar, the Spanish striker remains deeply attached to the Madrid club, which he considers a key step in his career.
Recruited in the summer of 2023 at the age of 33, Joselu had a memorable season in the white jersey. “It was a dream year, in which we won the biggest titles possible for Real Madrid,” he said, as reported by Marca.
Among the highlights, he spoke with emotion of the Champions League semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich, where he scored two decisive goals in just two minutes. “It was the best day of my life football-wise. The Bernabéu fans played a vital role that evening.”
“Kylian Mbappé will become a Real Madrid legend”
However, Joselu admitted that leaving Real Madrid was one of the toughest decisions of his career. “It’s a club that continues to attract the best players in the world. When I saw the arrival of Mbappé and Endrick, I understood that it was time for me to turn the page. My wife and I experienced this departure as one of the most painful moments of our common journey”.
Asked about Kylian Mbappé, Joselu did not hide his admiration for the French striker, whom he already considers to be an emblematic figure of the club. “For me, Mbappé is one of the best players in the world. He was recruited to win titles, and that’s exactly what he’s doing. He has already played in two finals this season, scored decisive goals and won two trophies. His ability to adapt is impressive, particularly thanks to his rapid mastery of the language. I am convinced that he will become a Real Madrid legend”.

Real Madrid, always in Joselu’s heart
Joselu also spoke nostalgically of his recent return to Qatar, where he reunited with former teammates at the Intercontinental Cup final. “It was a special moment: I felt like I had never left the club. The players were happy to see me again and, hopefully, I brought them good luck as they won another title.”
Although he no longer wears the white tunic, Joselu retains immense respect for Real Madrid, which he describes as the best club in the world. Words which reflect the attacker’s deep attachment to an institution which will have marked his career.
