6 prizes for the 6th edition

For the 6th consecutive year, DLR and CPMDG presented the Tower Crane Trophies. Four prizes and two favorites were an opportunity for the jury to highlight the expertise and know-how of professionals in this sector

An evening to celebrate the tower crane! The winners of the Tower Crane Trophies, the 6th edition of which has just taken place in , received their prizes during a ceremony bringing together enthusiasts and professionals in the sector. Organized by DLR and its professional commission for tower crane trades and equipment (CPMDG), four prizes were awarded and notable exceptions this year, the jury, chaired by Francis Jardet, also wanted to distinguish two favorites!

GMA Editing of the Year: Optimat

The company Optimat carried out a very beautiful installation of GMA in a site classified as a historic Moonument, during the assembly of an IGO T 85 crane at the Château de Turenne (19), as part of its renovation work. For four days, three fitters were mobilized. Main difficulty: the risk of snagging when the crane is moving in narrow streets. The use of a steering axle made maneuvering easier. Two extension masts were also part of the transport. The jury particularly praised the preparation and approach to the site, made more complex by the multiple passages of hairpin bends which required great mastery. »

GME Montage of the year: FT Montage

The teams of FT Montage are rewarded for dismantling a 150 ECB8 Litronic crane (height of 42 m and jib of 45 m), at an altitude of more than 2000 meters! She was involved in the construction of a cable car at the Mer de Glace in Chamonix (74). The dismantling operations, carried out with two helicopters (Superpuma AS332C1 and Écureuil AS350 B3) for the evacuation of the various components of the crane, required real expertise from the installers present. “The FT Montage team brilliantly carried out this exceptional project, with multiple and complex constraints (meteorology, geography, deadlines, etc.) thanks to meticulous planning and coordination but also to professional know-how to match the standards. issues” underlined the jury.

Innovation of the year: Potain

This is the app Assist de Potaine Connect which convinced the jury. It allows a direct connection to the crane via a WIFI or 4G network, without the need for additional tools (laptop, tablet, etc.). The application provides numerous benefits, such as saving time for identifying faults locally or remotely, avoiding non-value-added trips and saving on equipment needed for updating or troubleshooting electrical components. of the crane. “The ease of implementation thanks to the mobile phone application also makes it accessible to all technicians working on connected models. A valuable aid for the daily management of equipment fleets,” congratulated the jury.

Project of the year: FT Montage

Second prize for the company FT Montagethis time for the construction site of line C of the metro. Over a period of 4 years, 22 tower cranes were mobilized 6 days a week (Liebherr) entrusted to FT Montage. The construction site, in the city center, forced the teams to constantly monitor the noise level and put in place measures to facilitate the passage of semi-trailers. The jury praised “the approach to securing the use of equipment with the more frequent performance of periodic maintenance. This preventive risk management has been reinforced by the use of the LiDat system, installed on the machines. Compliance with the pace imposed by this major project required considerable preparation and in particular precise phasing allowing the different positions to work together. »

Two jury favorites!

This year, two favorites were awarded:
The GME assembly for Potainfor the installation in Monaco of a telescoping cage on an already assembled crane, as well as the de-telescoping and dismantling of the crane in question. 15 days and 6 people (5 POTAIN technicians and a service provider) were necessary to carry it out. The site, located in a very dense urban setting, led the teams to take specific measures and in particular the use of 4 mobile cranes of different capacities for the de-telescoping and loading phases on the trucks after dismantling but also the implementation of a PPSPS to analyze the risks of working at height, electrical risks, crushing risks and best prepare the site in advance.

Another favorite, Innovation this time for Liebherr and its Liduro Power Port. This mobile electrical energy storage solution with very high density and adapted to electrified construction site machinery, reacts instantly to high consumption peaks, thus avoiding voltage drops for the equipment. It is equipped with a zero local emissions system and does not emit any noise pollution. The user benefits from all usage information directly on site or remotely thanks to an on-board telematics system which transmits information in real time.
